EU-GCC Summit in Riyadh Postponed After Recent Attacks on Saudi Arabia

The EU and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) are postponing next week’s summit in Saudi Arabia.

The meeting of the heads of state and government of the member states was due to be held in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, on October 24, but has now been postponed to a new date, which will be announced “in due course”.

No formal reason was given. However, Riyadh has recently been targeted in several attacks by Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi movement, prompting Sweden to advise against non-essential travel to Saudi Arabia.
