The plans for a performing arts prize are part of the cultural compass that is now being launched to set the direction for future EU initiatives in the cultural field.
There has also been an annual EU Prize for Literature and the European Parliament's film prize, the Lux Prize.
Other parts of the compass include developing an AI strategy for the cultural sector, a charter for fair working conditions for artists and cultural workers, and a network of young cultural ambassadors.
