Wednesday's two strategies will be followed by concrete proposals in the coming years in the hope of, not least, strengthening the European shipbuilding industry.
One of the proposals is new support for "upgrading" civilian ferries so that they can also be used militarily.

The port strategy, in turn, includes a new framework for overseeing port employees, with the aim of better combating drug smuggling.
