The EU's trade commissioner Maros Sefcovic is traveling to Washington this week to try to reach a settlement with Donald Trump before the American president's deadline for the tariff pause expires.
Sefcovic plans to meet his American counterparts on Wednesday and Thursday.
The EU Commission, which handles trade policy for the union's 27 member states, has until July 9 to do so before trade tariffs come into effect – if Trump makes his threats a reality.
July 9 is around the corner, says Sefcovic.
The tariffs that Trump wants to introduce are 50 percent and apply to almost all exports from the EU to the USA.
