The announcement comes from European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen after a meeting with Prime Minister Keir Starmer during the ongoing G7 summit in France.
The date has long been unclear, partly because of difficulties making progress in negotiations on expanded cooperation, and partly because of internal demands for Starmer's resignation.
At the G7 meeting, "our need to maintain our support for Ukraine, its armed forces, and their preparedness for the winter" was discussed, von der Leyen writes in a post on X.
The summits between the EU and the UK are attended by the British Prime Minister, the President of the European Commission and the President of the European Council.
