Among the games that the commission is now reviewing are King's "Candy Crush" and Mojang's "Minecraft", as well as other well-known games such as "Clash of Clans" and "Forge of Empires".
The investigation will show whether any of the companies are violating EU rules, for example through unclear values for virtual currency used in the games or by forcing players to make unwanted purchases.
“The industry must ensure that games do not expose players - especially children - to harmful or unfair practices. Games must be fair and the rules must be followed,” said Justice Commissioner Michael McGrath in a press release.
