EU countries are ready to resume their border surveillance operation in Rafah at the border between Gaza and Egypt.

The reopening of the border crossing makes it possible to transport injured individuals for care, notes EU Foreign Minister Kaja Kallas at a press conference in Brussels after Monday's decision.

The plan is to resume work as early as the beginning of February.

We are sending out the operation under the same mandate as before. The personnel are ready to depart and start working, says Kallas.
