The EU's monitoring mission at the border between Egypt and Gaza will restart on Wednesday, says Foreign Minister Kaja Kallas.

”To secure peace will be extremely complicated. This effort can play an important role in supporting the ceasefire”, Kalla writes on X.

The EU mission at the border crossing in Rafah, EU Bam, was launched as early as 2005, but has been down on several occasions. The last time it was in operation was between January and March this year.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen simultaneously promises to support the peace plan, among other things through EU support for the reconstruction of Gaza.

”We are ready to contribute to it being successful with all the tools at our disposal”, she writes on X.
