The EU is supporting refugees and those in need in mainly Chad and Sudan with the equivalent of 3.1 billion kronor. This was announced by the aid commissioner Hadja Lahbib, who is on site in the area.
"With the continued conflict in Sudan, the humanitarian need is increasing in the entire region. Neighboring countries, which themselves have challenges, are under enormous pressure", notes Lahbib in a statement.
The money will go towards, among other things, food, healthcare, and protection, and will also include refugees in South Sudan, Ethiopia, Egypt, and Libya.
