"Based on its preliminary assessment, the Commission has doubts as to whether the capital injections in 2017, 2018 and 2019 are compatible with EU state aid rules," the Commission writes in a press release.
The case is based on a complaint from 2020 in which older capital contributions are also criticised, as well as a commitment from the owner for further contributions and free storage services.
The total capital injections that have been notified amounted to EUR 15.9 million, but statute of limitations rules mean that the oldest aid is not being investigated.
