The EU Commission has proposed a freeze on certain parts of the trade sections in its cooperation agreement with Israel, as well as personal sanctions against the far-right ministers Bezalel Smotrich and Itamar Ben-Gvir.
But for now, they are keeping a low profile.
We are not proceeding with the measures now, but we are not removing them from the table either, says Foreign Chief Kaja Kallas after the EU countries' foreign ministers discussed the issue in Luxembourg on Monday.
The ceasefire has changed the situation. But as long as we do not see real and sustainable change, especially when it comes to humanitarian aid to Gaza, the threat of sanctions remains, says Kallas.
