The European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and the President of the European Council António Costa are traveling to China for a summit on Thursday, confirms Beijing.
"President Xi Jinping will meet them", announces China's Foreign Ministry in a statement.
The two EU leaders will also meet, among other things, Prime Minister Li Qiang.
The meeting marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Beijing and Brussels.
Both the EU and China have recently expressed a desire to iron out a number of obstacles and disagreements related to trade.
