The three countries were the first to ask Brussels for help financing flights from the region, according to the EU commissioner for crisis management, Hadja Lahbib.
So far, Slovakia has organized two flights scheduled for tomorrow; Austria has requested space for 90 passengers; and Italy is evaluating how best to evacuate its citizens, Lahbib says.
Thousands of Swedes are still stuck in Dubai and Doha due to canceled flights, but the Swedish Foreign Ministry currently sees no possibility of evacuating them.
Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M) tells TT that the government is continuously evaluating the situation and investigating what options exist.
