The EU Commission fines the luxury brands Gucci, Chloé and Loewe for breach of competition rules.

According to the commission, the three companies have broken the rules when preventing independent retailers from setting their own prices on goods from the three fashion companies.

The fines amount to a total of 1.7 billion Swedish kronor, distributed as 1.3 billion for Gucci and approximately 200 million each for the other two.

"In the EU, all consumers, regardless of what they buy and how they buy it - online or offline - have the right to the benefits of genuine price competition. This message sends a strong signal to the fashion industry", writes competition responsible commissioner Teresa Ribera in a press release.
