Wednesday's ruling is the latest chapter in a battle between the European Commission and the chipmaker that has been ongoing in rounds since 2009, over allegations that Intel abused its dominant position in the market.
This time, the court finds that the European Commission was right in imposing a hefty fine on Intel in 2023. However, it believes that the sum should be reduced from 376 million euros to 237 million euros – equivalent to just over 2.5 billion Swedish kronor.
