The EU is prepared to tax the American tech giants' advertising revenues if the tariff negotiations with President Donald Trump fail, says EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in an interview with Financial Times.
The measures could in that case be directed against companies like Google and Meta, which, among other things, owns Facebook and Instagram.
The Union wants to achieve a "completely balanced" trade agreement with the USA, but is ready to escalate the trade war if it is not achieved, according to von der Leyen.
