Spanish Ribera's words come in a speech to students in Paris on Thursday, according to the news agency Efe.

.The statement is one of the sharpest so far from one of the EU Commission's members about Israel's warfare in Gaza. Ribera is the European social democrats' most prominent member of the Commission, with overall responsibility for climate and competition issues.
Ribera is condemned by Israel, which calls her a "megaphone for Hamas propaganda".
"Instead of echoing the blood libel of 'genocide' spread by Hamas, Ribera should demand that all hostages be released and that Hamas lay down its arms so that the war can come to an end", writes Oren Marmorstein, spokesperson for the Israeli Foreign Ministry, on X.
