Spanish Ribera's words come in a speech to students in Paris on Thursday, according to the news agency Efe.

The statement is one of the sharpest so far from one of the EU Commission's members about Israel's warfare in Gaza. Ribera is the European social democrats' heaviest member in the commission, with overall responsibility for climate and competition issues.
