After the fall of the Bashar al-Assad regime in Syria, the EU is now offering approximately 2.7 billion kronor in support to both Syria itself and its neighboring countries.
I am here to talk about a new package of humanitarian aid worth 235 million euros to Syria and neighboring countries. This shows the EU's commitment to the people, says the new Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management, Hadja Lahbib, according to the AFP news agency.
The statement from Lahbib – who was Foreign Minister of Belgium in 2022-24 – comes at a press conference after a meeting with Syria's new leader Ahmed al-Sharaa in Damascus.
