The EU Commission has given the green light for a joint venture between British, Italian, and Japanese defense giants to develop the next generation of fighter jets, reports Dagens industri.
British BAE Systems, Italian Leonardo, and Japanese JAEIC each own 33.3 percent.
The project has been going on for several years and Sweden participated for a while, but pulled out in 2023.
The goal is to have the aircraft developed by 2035, Germany, and France are simultaneously working on their own development of a new fighter jet.
