The EU Commission is providing nearly 2.3 billion Swedish kronor to Unrwa and the Palestinian Authority, according to a press release.
Almost 1.7 billion kronor will go to the Palestinian Authority, which controls parts of the West Bank. The money is intended to ensure public services such as payment of salaries to teachers and healthcare personnel.
The rest of the money will go to the UN organization for Palestinian refugees (Unrwa) and its operations for refugees in Gaza, the West Bank, Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria. It will go to critical services including education, primary healthcare, and emergency aid.
The Swedish government decided in December 2024 to abolish Swedish support for Unrwa.
