Hygiene company Essity is acquiring the part of the American company Edgewell whose products are aimed at women. The purchase price corresponds to approximately SEK 3.2 billion.

Essity has entered into an agreement to acquire Edgewell's panty liner, sanitary napkin and tampon business, including the Carefree and Stayfree brands in the US, Canada and the Caribbean.

“I look forward to further developing these well-known brands,” says Ulrika Kolsrud, CEO of Essity, in a press release.

The authorities must now approve the deal, which is expected to be completed in the first quarter of next year. Edgewell's shares are up nearly 6 percent in after-hours trading on the New York Stock Exchange.
