The music was played on the church organ during the December burial of a figure associated with the white-power movement. The incident has been reviewed by the cathedral chapter, a supervisory body for the church, which "reacts strongly to the fact that National Socialist music was played and that it absolutely does not belong in the church."
"The church is not a place free of opinion," a statement says.
The priest tells the newspaper that he was taken by surprise and the leadership of the congregation admits that it should have handled the situation differently.
The cathedral chapter is clear in its oversight and we agree that it has gone wrong, says Johan Hedlund, vicar of the Eskilstuna pastorate, to Eskilstuna-Kuriren.
