The new album has no title or release date yet, but it is clear that it is being produced by The Alchemist, who has previously worked with artists such as Kendrick Lamar, Nas, Snoop Dogg, and Ghostface Killah.
In an interview with Billboard, Badu explains why there has been such a long wait between album releases:
I have been touring eight months a year for 25 years. That's what I do, I'm a performance artist, not a studio person.
Badu broke through with her debut album "Baduizm" in 1997.
