The 52-year-old star has not disclosed any details about how he received his diagnosis or how far he has progressed in the disease process. But he tells the magazine that he still continues to work, next with the TV series "Euphoria", where he plays the patriarch Cal Jacobs.

I'm grateful that I can continue to work and I look forward to returning to the filming of "Euphoria" next week, he says.

Eric Dane got his breakthrough as plastic surgeon Dr Mark Sloan in the classic doctor series "Grey's Anatomy", a role he played for six seasons between 2006 and 2012.

ALS is a paralysis disease where the nerve cells that control voluntary movements from the brain to the spinal cord and muscles degenerate and eventually die.

Every year, around 200 Swedes are diagnosed with ALS. The Buddhist monk Björn Natthiko Lindeblad, the ice hockey player Börje Salming, and the presenter Ulla-Carin Lindquist are some of the most well-known Swedes who have been affected by ALS.
