Maxwell participated via video link from prison in Texas, but all the House Oversight Committee heard was that she invoked her legally protected right not to answer questions.
However, Maxwell's lawyer says she is ready to speak "fully and honestly" if she is pardoned by Donald Trump.
"Only she can give the whole picture. Some may not like what they hear, but the truth is important. For example, both President Trump and President Bill Clinton are innocent," attorney David Oscar Markus said in a statement, according to NBC News.
Ghislaine Maxwell is serving a 20-year prison sentence for, among other things, sexual exploitation of children in connection with Epstein's crimes.
