The newly crowned Copa Ámerica champion Enzo Fernández was sentenced on Friday in his absence in Wales, according to BBC and Sky Sports.
The Chelsea player has been found guilty of withholding information from the Welsh police, after failing to identify a driver who ran a red light in Carmarthenshire last year.
The 23-year-old is expected to receive his punishment on September 11.
The verdict comes just days after Fernández landed in hot water for a video he posted on social media. The video showed the midfielder and several Argentine players singing a racist chant during the celebration of the Copa Ámerica title.
The chant was directed, among others, at French players, which has led the French Football Association to report Argentina to Fifa.
Several teammates of Fernández at Chelsea have criticized the video and unfollowed the Argentine on social media.
