Swedish companies should not be faced with stricter climate regulations in Sweden than in the EU as a whole. That is why the small business organization wants to abolish the national climate targets.

"We propose that all national climate targets in the EU be replaced with a common EU target that is achieved by pricing emissions equally for everyone," writes Magnus Demervall, CEO of Företagarna, in a debate article in Dagens industri.

He refers to his own survey among Företagarna members where six out of ten do not want stricter rules in Sweden than in the rest of Europe.

Pursuing a tougher Swedish climate policy is ineffective, believes Magnus Demervall.

"A climate policy that drives production out of the country without reducing global demand does the climate a disservice and makes Sweden poorer," he writes.
