The assault allegedly took place at a nightclub in central London on December 6. Toney is now being charged and is due to appear in court in London on September 24.
"Ivan has taken note of the charges and, although he is naturally shocked, he looks forward to having the opportunity to clear his name in court," a spokesman for Toney said, according to Sky Sports.
Toney was in England's squad for this summer's World Cup and currently plays for Saudi side al-Ahli. He was previously a teammate of Swede Pontus Jansson at Brentford.
In 2023, Toney was banned from all football for eight months after breaching the English Football Association's (FA) match-fixing rules. He was also fined £65,000.
