The time (actually 9:25 p.m.) is a reference to Parton's smash hit "9 to 5."
Although Dolly Parton is primarily associated with Tennessee, she also had connections to New York and owned an apartment on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan in the 1980s. Since her death on Tuesday after a short battle with cancer, she has been paid tribute by the city's mayor, Zohran Mamdani, among others.
"This is truly heartbreaking. Dolly Parton was an extraordinary person and an irreplaceable fighter for the working class. We are a better country because of her," he writes on Instagram.
After the news of Parton's death, President Donald Trump also decided that flags would be flown at half-staff throughout the country for a week.
