Joseph Strange, 48, pleaded guilty this week to copyright infringement after being charged in 2025 with leaking 25 Eminem songs online.
One of the buyers, using the alias Doja Rat, reportedly paid $50,000 - around half a million kronor - for the music, according to the FBI.
Strange worked as a sound engineer for Eminem from 2007 to 2021 in Ferndale, Michigan, and had access to the music that was later leaked.
"It's a much more complicated and nuanced issue," Strange's lawyer, Wade Fink, said in a statement to Variety, adding that Strange "has taken responsibility" and "feels great remorse."
Strange faces up to five years in prison.
