The Swedes could not explain the fiasco in the biathlon sprint. But after significantly better skiing in the subsequent pursuit, Elvira Öberg said. "It's clear that I have better skis today," she said.

Elvira Öberg had the fastest time in the pursuit start and moved up four places, despite five falls.

I feel about as fit today as I did yesterday, but I'm skiing much, much faster. So it's clear that something is different under my feet. Whether it's the wax, the structure or the brand is really hard to say. But it's clear that I have better skis today.

She doesn't attach much importance to the five falls.

"I'd rather have it this way today than the other way around. It means an incredible amount for the future. I felt pretty upset, honestly, after yesterday," she says of Saturday's sprint race.

The women's next Olympic race is the relay on Wednesday.
