Musk reached the historic milestone as a result of a sale of shares in his privately owned space company Space X. The increase raised his wealth by around 50 billion dollars in one go to approximately 439 billion dollars, equivalent to around 4,800 billion kronor.
The Tesla owner's wealth has turned dramatically since the end of 2022, when he at one point saw his net wealth decrease by more than 200 billion dollars. Lately, the wealth has risen significantly due to Donald Trump's victory in the American presidential election.
Tesla's share has risen around 65 percent since before the election due to market expectations that Trump will accelerate the introduction of self-driving cars and remove tax breaks that benefit Tesla's competitors.
