"It is a place of addiction, abuse, pornography, manipulation and violence. We will no longer accept it," Pedro Sánchez said of social media when he presented plans for a ban on social media use by children under 16.
The proposal is similar to the one adopted by the French National Assembly last week. Australia has introduced a 16-year age limit and the issue is being discussed in several EU countries. Last autumn, Sweden set up an inquiry into the issue.
But X owner Elon Musk is not impressed.
“The dirty Sánchez is a tyrant and a traitor to the Spanish people,” he writes on his platform, ending his post with a shit-sausage emoji.
