Elisabeth Lann (KD) describes the high rate of sick leave in the healthcare sector as a failure. She is now calling for an emergency meeting, SVT Nyheter reports.

Sickness absence is highest in female-dominated professions such as healthcare, social care and education. In addition, three out of four people who become ill from stress are women, according to the Swedish Social Insurance Agency's annual status report.

Now, Minister of Health Elisabeth Lann has decided to invite representatives from unions and employers in the healthcare sector to a meeting - something that had previously been requested by both the Swedish Healthcare Association and the Swedish Medical Association.

I hope we can find areas where we can work together systematically, because the way things are now is not enough, she tells SVT.
