Fredrik Lundh Sammeli (S), vice chairman of the social committee, says to the TV channel that the abortion issue is not negotiable.
When a minister has previously opened up for freedom of conscience and now wavers in their answers, it causes concern, he says to TV4.
It was in a leader text in the magazine Kristdemokraten that Elisabet Lann in 2015 wrote that healthcare staff should be able to say no to performing abortions for reasons of conscience, according to TV4.
Elisabet Lann now responds to the criticism in a post on Facebook. "If you work in healthcare, you should of course fulfill your work tasks, I have never said anything else. Since political opponents apparently now distort my words, the obvious needs to be said again, I stand behind Swedish abortion legislation", writes the minister.
