The film, “The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum,” is set to be released on December 17, 2027, and is directed by Gollum actor Andy Serkis. It takes place before the first film in the trilogy.
At a film festival in Las Vegas, the cast has now been confirmed for the film, reports Variety. In addition to Elijah Wood and Ian McKellen, other familiar names are back: Lee Pace as Thranduil and Serkis as Gollum. Strider, the alias Aragorn uses in “The Lord of the Rings,” is played by Jamie Dornan. Aragorn was previously played by Viggo Mortensen.
Kate Winslet and Leo Woodall also star in the roles of Marigol and Halvard.
