Sweden's Elias Ymer lost to Kazakhstan's Alexander Shevchenko 1–3 in sets and is thus out of the Australian Open.

Ymer won the first set, but then Shevchenko took over the match and won the next three sets. The Kazakh player excelled with eight aces across the third and fourth sets.

Ymer had reached the main draw of the Australian Open three times in his career before the match, but had been eliminated in the first round each time. This was also the case this year.

Elias Ymer is ranked 175th in the ATP singles rankings, while Shevchenko is ranked 97th.
