Elias Ranefur Qualifies for European Table Tennis Championships After Straight-Sets Win Over Denmark’s Tobias Rasmussen

Elias Ranefur has climbed the world rankings over the past year and entered the European Table Tennis Championships as Sweden’s second-highest-ranked player. In the final qualifying round, the 30-year-old made short work of Dane Tobias Rasmussen and is now through to the main tournament.

World No. 27 Elias Ranefur went into the match as the clear favorite against Tobias Rasmussen, who is ranked 209th. The Stockholm native lived up to expectations, winning in straight sets, 11–8, 11–7, 11–4.

I am happy with the performance. I hit some good backhand flips on the return and some good forehands when I served, Elias Ranefur told SVT.

With this win, Ranefur has come through the European Championship qualifying tournament and is ready for the main tournament, which begins on Wednesday. Truls Möregårdh, Anton Källberg and Kristian Karlsson have already qualified for the men's singles tournament.
