Elias Ranefur fought hard but could not match Germany’s Patrick Franziska at the WTT tournament in Montpellier. The Swedish table tennis star lost 1–3 in sets in the round of 16.

After set scores of 10–12, 4–11, 11–8 and 8–11, it’s all over for Ranefur in France.

World number four Truls Möregårdh is the only Swede left in the tournament. Möregårdh is the defending champion and will face Chinese world number nine Lin Shidong in Saturday’s quarter-finals.
