With ten days left until Sam Hallam selects Trekronor's Olympic squad, there are question marks over one of Sweden's biggest NHL stars.
Elias Pettersson has not yet been told whether he will receive a ticket to the games in Milan and Cortina. Time is running out for the 27-year-old, who was placed on the injured list with an upper-body injury in last night's 2-5 loss to Philadelphia for the eighth consecutive game.
However, he could be back soon. Vancouver coach Adam Foote hopes the Swede can step out on the ice in the offseason.
"I think he's close. We'll see when, but he's getting closer," Foote said, according to nhl.com.
Despite his injury, Pettersson has scored the most points for Vancouver this season, if you don't count the recently traded Quinn Hughes. However, among the Swedes, his 22 points are only enough for tenth place.
