Over the course of ten weeks, a total of eleven women have been found dead in the municipality of Ekurhuleni, just east of Johannesburg.
The body was found in an open field in broad daylight by a patrolling security company, police spokeswoman Brenda Muridili said. No details were given on the cause of death or the victim's age.
On Saturday, a victim was found near a cemetery in the same area. The victim was half-naked, according to police, who added that the woman appeared to have been stoned to death.
Police issued a "general warning" in the shantytown and its vicinity when a ninth body was found and similarities to previous murders became apparent.
