Originally, eleven people were said to be missing in the water, but ten of them have now been found. Some of the survivors clung to the wreck of the boat.
The boat was in the Mentawai Islands archipelago west of Sumatra when it capsized on Monday morning. The search for the person who is still missing is ongoing.
Accidents at sea are common in Indonesia's large island world, among other things due to inadequate safety routines. Earlier in July, at least 18 people were killed when a ferry sank between Java and Bali.
