The new electricity tax rates will come into effect from the turn of the year.
”It means a reduction of 20 percent from the normal tax rate and means significant relief for households and companies – for example, the electricity cost will decrease by 1,000 kronor per year for a non-electrically heated house”, writes Tidöpartierna.
A high-cost protection aimed at high electricity prices will also be introduced from November this year and continue throughout 2026. It will apply at an average electricity price of over 1.5 kronor per kWh within an electricity area. A corresponding support will be introduced for households that use gas for heating.
The parties write that Sweden's electricity system has been neglected for a long time with large price fluctuations as a result of decommissioned nuclear power and motivate the tax reduction by getting to grips with the fluctuations.
”We are reforming the energy policy so that households and companies can get stable electricity, where and when it is needed, at competitive prices.”
