This was an unchanged level compared with July and in line with preliminary August figures from last week.
"Lower food prices dampened the rate of inflation, but were offset by higher prices for electricity and fuel in August," says Frida Stark, price statistician at Statistics Sweden, in a press release.
Compared with July, electricity and fuel prices rose by 5.9 and 3.7 percent, respectively, according to Statistics Sweden. Clothing prices rose by 5.6 percent, while package holiday prices – which usually fall seasonally in August – plunged 20.9 percent compared with July.
