The US presidential plane, Air Force One, was forced to turn back due to an electrical fault. The plane was en route to the World Economic Forum in Davos when the fault was discovered.

The plane took off Tuesday evening, U.S. time, bound for Davos, Switzerland. Shortly after takeoff, however, personnel discovered "a minor electrical fault" on the plane, according to the White House, and the pilots turned back.

According to the AFP news agency, a reporter onboard said that the lights in the plane's press section went out shortly after takeoff. About half an hour into the flight, an announcement said the plane would turn back.

President Donald Trump will board another plane to travel to Davos.
