New car registrations fell by 1.4 percent in February to 19,341 passenger cars compared with the same month last year. However, the statistics may have been affected by problems at the Swedish Transport Agency in the final days of the month, according to Mobility Sweden's monthly statistics.
So far this year, the passenger car market has fallen by ten percent, but the electric car segment is doing better. The share of new fully electric cars registered rose to almost 40 percent of total sales, up from 29 percent in February last year. In terms of volume, sales of electric cars increased by eleven percent.
"The development is explained by a broader product range of electric cars in more price ranges," Mobility Sweden writes in a press release.
