The Stockholm Region is using the boat as part of a research project that has tested fast charging via a battery storage facility on the Sollenkroka–Möja line.

The region wants to test how it works with floating battery storage because the archipelago does not have sufficient capacity in the electricity grid to fast-charge large electric boats, says Mikael Mahlberg, communications manager at manufacturer Candela.

The problems are not related to charging, but to steering. The electric boat has a wing-like foil under the hull that lifts the boat out of the water.

Components are now being replaced in Stockholm Freeport.

We hope that the boat will be back in service as soon as possible, says Mikael Mahlberg.
