The Election Authority has received over a hundred reports of problems from a number of municipalities in the country, reports Sveriges Radio Ekot. On Monday, the Election Authority therefore had a meeting with Postnord.
We can conclude that deliveries in a large number of municipalities have been delayed and in many cases so late that it has had consequences for the vote count, says Anna Nyqvist, head of the secretariat at the Swedish Election Authority to TT.
Anna Nyqvist points out that this had no consequences for the election results themselves.
But there are consequences for the vote count and the work environment for those working on the election. In some cases, it has affected the voter turnout statistics because votes have been counted late and not included in their own district. This is not acceptable.
Postnord and the Election Authority will now have further meetings.
We haven't received all the explanations yet, but I understand that we agree that deliveries have been delayed and that this has also had unacceptable consequences.
