The police were alerted to a fire in Burträsk at 2:47 p.m. on Tuesday, and several emergency service units were sent. According to initial reports, the basement of the villa was filled with smoke.
In the evening, the police wrote on their website that a man who was taken to hospital by ambulance had died.
He was an elderly man, said Elisabeth Glaas, police spokesperson.
The fire is being investigated by the police, but there are no suspects in the case.
