An apartment building caught fire after 5 pm on Monday in central Trelleborg. When the rescue service arrived at the scene and entered with smoke divers, an elderly man was discovered in an apartment.
The man was taken to hospital and later died during the evening, reports Trelleborgs Allehanda.
It's a tragic event, of course, and the investigation will show how this fire started, says Ted Eriksson, at the police in Ystad to the newspaper.
According to the police, the fire appears to have started in the living room of the apartment. A report of gross negligence has been filed.
